Energy Forecast for 2025 and January, Specifically
What do Tarot, Numerology, and Spirit Have to Say?
I will be honest. At the time of this writing, I have not yet been able to get a lot of information about 2025 as a whole year. Using numerology and the Tarot, I can get some information, but there are still a lot of unknowns about 2025. It feels like a very pivotal year, in which we as humanity have a choice to either evolve or repeat old patterns. It is time to release the old way of doing things. If we don’t change with intention, sometimes the changes happen in a way that force us to let go of the old.
If we add the numbers together for the year, 2025 is a 9 year. (2+0+2+5=9.)
Nine is the number of endings, completion of a cycle, the settlement of unfinished business, surrender, and letting go. It is also a number of reflection, looking back at the past to learn, heal and grow. It is a number of being of service to others.
In the Shamanic Medicine Wheel of Life, we can associate the number 9 with the West. The direction of West is associated with endings. Just as the sun sets in the west, this is a time of finishing up and saying goodbye to our day, and ultimately a chapter in our lives. As we move through the medicine wheel of life, we must fully let go of what is going away, allowing it to die a good death, before we can move on to the next direction, the direction of North.
The North is the direction of wisdom and perspective. We can only gain perspective after we have completed a cycle, so if we have not yet surrendered an old version of ourselves or of how we perceive our lives, our world, humanity, or the way we are used to living our lives, it is difficult to gain perspective.
The interesting thing is, the North has to be passed through in order to begin anew in the East, which will come in 2026. It feels like we have to go through some sort of collective ending in order to achieve wisdom and perspective, and that is destined to happen in 2025. If we skip over the path of wisdom and immediately jump into something new, often we end up repeating old patterns.
The last time we had a 9 year was 2016. As we know, this was the year Trump was elected president of the United States. There were a lot of other world events that were significant, but here we are again, nine years later, Trump preparing to take office once again. Apparently there is a collective lesson we are supposed to learn, that we must have missed, or perhaps it is coming around again to be revisited. What we don’t learn, we repeat.
The associated Tarot card with the energy for this year, The Hermit.
The Hermit is the card of wisdom.
When we are in a Hermit year, it is important to set aside time for self-reflection, study, and the seeking of wisdom.
We may need to block off times when we are not interacting with others. We may need to go on mental, emotional or spiritual excursions, completely away from other people.
As a whole, we may find isolation becoming a part of our collective experience. This occurred back in 2020 when we had to isolate due to COVID. Some replication of the need to isolate ourselves may occur this year. Or, we may just not feel like being social as much as we normally would. With the political climate as divided as it is, we may feel separate from people due to differences in political opinions. There are also a lot of issues that are dividing us as humanity. Before we can release the illusion of separation, we must experience it, and ultimately move beyond it.
There have been a lot of people predicting events that would fit with the Hermit card. We have been encouraged to have a few days of non-perishable food and some water on hand. I am not necessarily advocating that exact narrative, due to it being a regular part of my childhood fear-based religious programming, but it never hurts to be at least a little prepared for some sort of event that would cut us off from supplies, for whatever reason.
We must not allow this suggestion to create fear within us!
Fear is the antithesis of the energy of love.
If we embody the energy of Divine Love, we will remember that we are aspects of the Divine, and that we are collectively creating our joined experience here in the Earth realm. The more we fear, the more we are feeding the consciousness of fear. The more we love, the more we are joining with the Forces of Divine Love, Joy and Healing, and co-creating a world of peace and love, where we all live together in harmony, rather than division, hate, and fear. (See my previous article on the war between love and fear.)
January, being the first month of the year, is a 1 month in numerology. The cool thing about being in a 9 year, is that the months are enjoying the energy of their own numbers to the fullest this year! If we add the 1 for the month of January to the 9 for the year, we arrive at 10, and 1 plus 0 equals 1. So we have the energy of new beginnings, change, illumination, and enlightenment very prominent in January.
The two Tarot cards associated with January are the Wheel of Fortune and the Magician.
The Wheel of Fortune is the card of changes, both large and small.
The thing about life is that life is impermanent. Everything is always in a cycle of change to some degree. Some things change quickly and some more slowly, but change is the one thing we can bank on. Nothing will ever stay the same.
I heard a wise statement about the Wheel of Fortune recently (here is the woman who shared this with me.) She said if you live your life on the outside of the wheel, you will find yourself having huge, significant changes in your life and being constantly in a state of either going down one side of the wheel or up the other side. This can be quite unsettling! The key is to get into the center of the wheel and allow the changes to occur on the outside, while you are safe inside your center, more observing the changes than reacting to them. It is important to engage in meditation, or some sort of spiritual practice, that centers you in your wholeness, your connection to the Divine, and offers you an anchor to navigate the changes in life.
The Magician is one of my favorite cards, because it is a card that tells you that you are the creator and magician of your life. You have all the tools necessary to create the life you desire. Yes, there will always be things that happen that are out of your control, but you control how those things affect your sense of well-being. You affect what you choose to focus on in your life. What you focus on grows and becomes your reality. This is the ultimate card of self-empowerment, and taking responsibility for your own life. You are not a victim. You are the one who is ultimately responsible for how you navigate your life.
It is easy to fall into victimhood when we watch the news or see the upheaval in the world. We may feel we are powerless over our lives. But we are always in charge to some degree, because in truth, the Divine supplies our needs, not the government, the banks, the grocery stores, or our employers. If you find yourself in dire straits, ask the Divine for assistance, and watch miracles occur! I have heard of groceries appearing on the front doorstep of those without food. I have personally experienced unexpected money showing up, or charges being refunded to me. My father experienced this several times later on in life. He received unexpected checks in the mail which exactly matched bills he needed to pay. He became debt-free after my mother passed from a long and expensive battle with cancer in a matter of months. My sister’s home was completely spared during a recent hurricane in her area, while many others experienced extensive damage. We can live charmed lives if we understand our connection to the ultimate Source of abundance, joy and well-being of all kinds.
As I have mentioned before, your personal numbers may be a bit different from the universal themes I talk about here. If you add your birth month and day to the year it was on your last birthday, you will discover what your personal year is, and if you add the 1 from January, you will arrive at your personal theme for the month. (Unless your birthday is in January, you are still working with your numbers from 2024.)
When we have the energy of 9, the number of endings, joining forces with the number 1, the number of beginnings, we are likely to have a bit of a tumultuous January. It is like when cold air and warm air collide to create thunderstorms.
When a baby is about to be born, the baby begins to feel unsettled, nestled in its warm, cozy home for the past 9 months (coincidence?! I think not!) It may not really be interested in leaving the environment where it has been nurtured by its mother and every need met without hesitation. This baby did not need to breathe on its own, eat on its own, or experience any of the uncertainty, bright lights, fluctuations in temperature or environment that is about to burst upon the scene. Not to mention the flurry of activity, the intense emotions of the other humans who will be creating its next of existence. But birth is inevitable. Nothing ever stays the same.
Look at 2025 as a year of the finality of one phase of life and the entrance into a new reality of some kind. Something dies. Something is born.
As we begin to birth a new reality together and individually, we will have some birth pains. We will probably feel unsettled and a little out of sorts at times. If you personally are in a good place, then look around and be of service to others.
Try to stay in your center, grounded to Mother Earth through regular exercise, eating and drinking nutritious foods and beverages, a spiritual practice of some kind, or at least regular dates with nature. Pay attention to how you feel. Take breaks when you need to. Rest when you feel tired, and be active when you are feeling good.
Remember that while we are living out our existence in a human body, we will go through cycles of productivity and rest, in the same way as the earth moves through cycles of day and night, spring, summer, fall, and winter. There will always be times of light and times of dark. Let us not judge the particular season we find ourselves in. It will change, just as day turns to night and winter gives way to spring.
Find a group of like-minded souls who have similar values, and support each other. Find support that is kind, loving, and wants to be a positive force of good on the earth. There are times you will need each other, and times you want to be alone. You may need to spend less time with those who are not a good match to your sense of well-being. Whether you specifically break ties with them or just choose to spend less time is up to you. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing, unless someone is extremely toxic to your sense of well-being and does not support your spiritual and emotional growth.
Let us look forward to 2025 as a year when we began to live our most authentic lives, and when all that did not support a kind and loving humankind began to be exposed for their selfish or impure motives. Let us ask the Divine that these changes come naturally, peacefully, and in the easiest way possible for all who are ready to evolve.
