Breathe in. Breathe out.
You could call this: February Forecast, part 2, or the importance of balance.
You could call this: February forecast: Part 2.
This morning on this second day of February in an energetic “2” month (see my February Forecast, Part 1), I chatted about the number 2 in numerology, as well as the Tarot cards associated with this month, the High Priestess and Justice.
This morning while I was engaging in my meditation time, I seemed to be finding it a little difficult to stay focused. My thoughts would wander to my “to do” list, and I would recognize this and go back to Spirit, apologizing more than once for my difficulties.
Breathe in. Breathe out. This is my meditation practice. Focus on the breath.
Finally, I slowed my brain activity down and achieved connection.
Spirit showed up immediately and reminded me that I cannot take a breath in without an accompanying breath out. And that is how it is with living as a spirit inhabiting a body, if we want to achieve balance and well-being.
Breathing in is taking in our connection to Spirit.
Breathing out is living our life, doing the stuff of life, whatever that is.
They reminded me that I have been doing a lot of “out-breath” stuff: seeing clients, teaching classes, holding monthly gatherings, not to mention the “regular life” stuff of cleaning out closets, or exercising. All of the living of life stuff, if we are being what we call “productive,” is “out-breath” stuff.
Both are important!
February is a “2” month, which is “in-breath” stuff. Slow down. Go within. Spend time with your soul, your inner self. Engage in your spiritual practice. Don’t be so intent on being “productive,” which is a bit difficult for me. If you choose to spend time with people you love, don’t do it as if it was a task to complete, but rather, an experience of connection. Breathe in the joy of spending time with those you love. Allow the exchange to be both giving and receiving.
Slow down.
The number 2 is not a fast-moving energy. If you try to move forward in a 2 month, you may feel like you are trying to walk through mud with concrete boots on.
Enjoy a bit of a slower pace.
The other card of the month is the Justice card. Yes, sometimes we focus on achieving justice for perceived wrongs, or seeing karma do its thing for those who are not behaving the way they should, but justice is also a card of balance. The woman in the picture in many decks of Tarot cards is blindfolded, (not the traditional one I depict, but some), which means that sometimes the only way justice comes is not to go out and look for it. Listen to your own inner knowing. Breathe in. Breathe out. Know that justice will come when it is meant to.
If your life feels a bit out of balance right now, slow down.
Breathe in. Breathe out.
Spend some time just focusing on the in and out of your breath.
Sometimes when I get an idea, my hubby has a habit of saying to me, “take a breath.”
He knows I have a tendency to get an inspired idea and run with it. I am planning the next vacation before we finalize details on the first one. I am planning Thanksgiving dinner in July. When we are sitting at dinner, my mind is racing to what I need to after this. I often meditate while engaging in vigorous exercise, because it is easier for me to connect if my body is “doing” something.
This month, my job, and perhaps your job, is to breathe. That is all.
Decide what aspects of your life are the in-breath and what is the out-breath. What feels like it is nourishing your soul? That is in breath stuff. What actions are you taking, either out of obligation, passion, responsibility, a need to be productive, or even better, based on the guidance you are receiving during your in-breath moments? Those are out-breath actions. Both are important.
Just for today, breathe in. Breathe out.
On the one hand, I am breathing in today. I meditated this morning while sitting still, which is why it initially seemed difficult. But then, when the message came through, I immediately had to write it down to share with you! I would consider the meditation my in-breath and my writing it down and sharing it my out-breath.
How are you achieving balance today, and this entire month?
Schedule time to do nothing!
You will be glad you did.
