Last week for my birthday, my daughter and her kids invited me over for homemade chili and a movie night. I had chosen “Wicked” as the movie, since it seemed that it would be enjoyed by all of us. My daughter had purchased the movie so we could enjoy it from her living room, so we settled down with our bowls of chili and embarked on an adventure that is so significant for the times we are living in, I just had to share.
Years ago, when I had not yet fully owned who I was and was living my life in a limited belief system, I used to receive my messages from Spirit somewhat randomly and often in surprising ways from dreams, the Bible, songs on the radio, or movies. Some of the movies were taboo in my belief system, since anything that did not align with Christianity was condemned, but I would often break from traditional thinking and go see them anyway. In some ways, movies were instrumental in opening my eyes to new ways of thinking, because I would receive revelations based on the stories being told.
Nowadays, twenty-something years later, movies tend to have less messages for me, because my Guides and I chat regularly, and I tend to watch less movies than I did in those days.
Until Wicked.
If you have not yet seen the movie, you may want to stop reading here, and come back after you have watched the movie.
In this story, a married woman has an affair, and finds herself with child. When the child is born, her skin is green. She is noticeably different from the rest of humanity. The husband, who believes himself to be the father, rejects the child and blames her for every misfortunate event that subsequently happens, even the ones that he himself has created.
The girl owns the blame. She also believes herself responsible.
You see, she has a gift. At this point she does not realize that the chaos that ensues every time she feels a strong emotion is a gift. It seems at this point to be a curse, because she cannot control her emotions, and has no idea that it is her emotions that are creating the chaos that seems to randomly explode around her regularly.
As time goes on, a number of synchronicities occur and she finds herself becoming aware of her abilities. She is bored with the shallow behavior of most of society, but often comes to the aid of the less fortunate.
I am going to skip over some of the story, as it is not necessarily relevant for today’s message. I will also admit that my message from the movie may be a bit different from the point the writers hoped to make. Perhaps I will focus in on other aspects of this story in a subsequent post.
One of the green girl’s greatest desires is to seek audience with the great Wizard of this kingdom. She believes that he can remove her green skin and make her “normal.”
More synchronicities occur and she finds herself invited to the Wizard’s castle.
Her powers have been noticed, and she soon finds that the Wizard has no real power of his own, but wishes to harness hers. She realizes that he has been hoodwinking the people of the kingdom into believing that he is all powerful, and that he does not have the best interests of the people in his heart.
When she realizes that she is powerful, and desires to use her powers for good, she is accused of being “wicked” and targeted for extinction. However, since she has realized who she is, she is able to escape attempts on her life.
How many of us are born into lives, feeling different from everyone around us? We often feel like we are not acceptable. There is something wrong with us, and everyone can easily see it. We may or may not have some physical feature that sets us apart from everyone around us, but we seem to feel displaced, often blamed for everything that goes wrong, feeling responsible in some ways for the misfortune we witness and experience. We live our lives in shame, feeling inherently flawed and unfixable. We may have abilities that others do not seem to have, but often those abilities are demonized in some way, and we are blamed for every misfortunate event that occurs.
We could also say that the girl’s green skin symbolized the possibility that she is a Starseed. (A starseed is someone whose origins are from other galaxies, stars, or planetary systems). She is born to a human family, but her origins come from someone or somewhere else. Often Starseeds feel displaced, or different from others. Even the feeling of being born into the wrong body, or being the wrong sex, or loving the wrong person could be explained by the possibility of being a Starseed or some version of an advanced soul, or a soul that is not from here. Many of us struggle with the accepted rules of our cultural conditioning, and this does not necessarily mean we are a starseed, but there is the possibility. These souls always feel different. They may struggle fitting into normal society. They may feel everyone’s pain, or have abilities that others don’t. They often find themselves feeling shame, being humiliated, or blamed for circumstances they cannot change or control.
At some point, they entertain the possibility that perhaps they can be “fixed” by something or someone outside of themselves. This could represent the idea of God, or it could be someone or something else, but it is due to a flawed idea that there is something wrong with me and I need to change that so I can be “normal.”
At some point, this person realizes their own power. Possibly they have some sort of awakening to the idea that they can use their power for good. Or maybe they just want to be acknowledged as acceptable despite any noticeable differences in their appearance, beliefs, or lifestyle.
When we come to the realization that we are not flawed, that the thing we most despise about ourselves or try to hide, is really our gift, then we will be changed.
The flawed society we live in has placed power and allegiance to those who pretend to be something that they are not. Many in positions of power have no real power of their own, but they surround themselves with others, and wield power based on taking it away from others, and convincing those around them that they do possess the power to make their lives better. They often target those who are “unique” or “different” and label them as “evil” or “wicked.” They set out to shame those individuals, humiliate them, or even extinguish them permanently.
Unfortunately, not all who are born “different” figure it out. If we find that we are constantly deemed unacceptable or wicked, there is a distinct possibility we will own that and behave accordingly.
But, when those of us deemed “wicked” by society realize our true power and begin to harness our emotions and power for the good, we will truly be free.
Sadly, our society has not yet recognized that we mean them no harm, and we only desire to free them from the lie that “the Wizard” has their best interests at heart.
Today we are faced with a choice. Will we believe the lie that we are flawed and we need something or someone outside of ourselves to “fix” us? Will we hide our gifts and abilities out of fear of discovery, or humiliation, or regrettable possible outcomes?
Or will we own who we are and shine the light of our souls, green skin and all?
Today may be a day to question what you believe about good and evil. Is something or someone deemed to be wicked truly what you believe it to be?
The truth is, everyone is not easily placed into a category of “good” or “bad.” We all have qualities we own and others we try to hide. We all make regrettable choices sometimes.
If I look at my past and do not see any moments of making a regrettable decision, then I have not grown much.
But if I am willing to own who I am, and shine the light of my soul, and say, yes, I have green skin and some people have labeled me as “evil” and I am okay with that, because they have just been lied to and they don’t know any better, then I am on the road to enlightenment.
Own your own personal version of green skin.
Decide to shine the light of your soul. Do good things. Realize that if you are being judged, it is just because the majority of society believes a lie.
Hopefully, one day, truth will prevail.
But if not, I have owned my green skin and embraced my gifts and my flaws and I have done the best that I can to experience joy, and love, and acceptance, and to share it with others.
In this version of the story of OZ, the end of the story has not yet been revealed. (This was only part I).
The end of your story hasn’t happened yet, either.
Stay tuned.
I almost forgot! Here are those buttons to remind you to like, subscribe and share. That is mostly how people find me. Don’t worry. This platform does not pay my bills (yet), but I love and appreciate those of you who show me some love and support my musings from the Spirit world.
Also, if you send me a message, and it feels creepy, I will not respond. (Yes, this has happened! Imagine that!)
If you want to see what I am up to, make an appointment for a private session, access my social media, or anything else,
Otherwise, here are the rest of the buttons you so desperately are waiting for!
