If you are reading this post, or any of my posts, for that matter, you are at least somewhat aware that the world we see with our physical eyes, hear with our physical ears, and experience with our physical senses is not the only reality. Our consciousness, or, our awareness, is really what is delivering to us the life we experience. As I shared in my last post, we are much more than that. We are a combination of an energetic Force, I like to call The Divine, that has decided to inhabit a human form temporarily and experience all the sensory experiences that are available to us for the limited time that life force keeps our physical bodies functioning.

With this being the case, the force that keeps us breathing and our heart pumping is much bigger than we are consciously aware of most of the time. We often allow our conditioning, which could be explained as all of the information, emotions and beliefs we have been programmed with in this lifetime, and even perhaps outside of that, to run the show.

When we become aware that our soul, or the force that animates this human flesh, is much larger than this body, and that there are unseen forces that are influencing us day by day and moment by moment, for better or for worse, we begin to notice signposts directing us as we navigate our lives. Sometimes we call them signs. Some of them come in the form of dreams, or synchronicities, repeating number sequences, other living creatures such as animals, birds, or insects (think butterfly - a popular sign from loved ones on the other side), images, or even animate objects that appear in out of the ordinary ways (think feathers, dimes, quarters, etc), to direct us, or to grab our attention.

If we are aware, we can receive guidance and inspiration daily to assist us in making decisions, to inspire us, comfort us, or even warn us.

There have been many systems that have been set up over the centuries which have been used as ways of receiving guidance and direction as we make decisions or take actions that we are considering. In the Bible, there are many instances where straws were drawn as a form of divination. Whoever drew the short straw found themselves the one who was blamed for some sort of calamity. Indigenous cultures used stones, feathers, and other items from nature. Ancient peoples also received guidance from the placement of stars and planets, which has survived and even thrive today in the study of astrology.

Nowadays, depending on your belief system, some communication from the Spirit world offering guidance or answers seems to be condoned and some taboo. In my upbringing, I often found answers from Spirit from Bible stories or through the gift of prophecy. I also had many significant dreams, which I did not understand for many years. However, in that extremely religious environment, using other forms of divination such as astrology, tarot cards, or consulting a psychic were strictly forbidden. Since I have expanded my viewpoint about the spirit world beyond the belief system I was raised with, I have learned many different ways of receiving answers and messages from the world that exists outside of my conscious awareness.

A little bit of caution is to be taken when consulting conscious awareness outside of the norm is to be advised.

When seeking guidance, it is important to note that there are a lot of forms of consciousness that exist outside of a human body, and not all of them have our best interests at heart. It is also important to take into account your own fears, beliefs, emotions, and desires. How you are feeling and what you are thinking about can affect any guidance you are seeking. If you want something bad enough or have a strong emotional response to a particular question, it is entirely possible that you could affect the information you receive or even create the answer or guidance you want rather than what is best for you.

A lot of people question guidance they receive, wondering if they are just making things up in their head, and this is a valid point. Depending on the form of divination you settle on, when you ask questions that you have a particular emotion about or a desire for, your consciousness can certainly play a part in information you receive.

There are ways for you to separate your own desires, fears, or programming from guidance you are seeking from Spirit.

Here are a few suggestions.

  1. Spend some time before seeking guidance from Spirit in meditation. Clear your mind from any pre-conceived notions, desires, or fears to the best of your ability. Focus on your breath, and imagine when you are breathing in that you are breathing in Divine Love. On the out breath, imagine Divine Love expelling any non-beneficial programs, desires, emotions, or fears from your body and energy field.

  2. Raise your vibration. Step number 1, if done properly, should accomplish this step, but it is important to note that your overall state of mind and emotional level is going to affect your experience. Decide to set aside difficult emotions, programs, beliefs and fears for the time you are spending with Spirit. Remember that the spirit world will interact with you based on your emotional frequency. The highest frequency is that of Love and Joy. If you are sick, depressed, or on certain frequency-lowering substances, your ability to access the best information may be blocked or reduced. You may attract information that is not necessarily in your highest good.

  3. Ask for assistance from your soul and higher guidance system. Call in protection from your Spirit Helpers, Angels, or benevolent helpers.

  4. Do a little self-inventory. If you are afraid of a certain divination tool, it may be in your best interests not to use that particular tool until you have addressed your fears.

  5. When I connect with Spirit, and I receive some information or guidance, I like to ask them to confirm the information from another source, or tell me something I don’t know that can be confirmed or validated in some way. The good spirit helpers do not mind if you do this!

  6. Remember that the benevolent spirit helpers will never demand you do anything or tell you what to do. They will not threaten you or make you afraid. They do not mind if you ask for proof or validation.

When I connect to either a benevolent spirit helper or even a deceased person, and they want to chat, I always ask them to tell me something I don’t know that can be confirmed somehow. Most recently, I saw George Harrison while I was meditating. I asked him to tell me something about him I did not know and he showed me his hand. He said he had been stabbed in the hand. Upon return to waking consciousness, I was easily able to confirm he had indeed been stabbed, not just in the hand, but his hand was injured while fighting off an attacker. I am not sure why he only told me about his hand. I cannot control the information that comes through.

My personal belief is that there is no divination tool that is necessarily evil. The tools are neutral. Tools combine with our energy field and our own personal beliefs and frequency. The reason many people have regrettable experiences with certain divination tools or techniques is because either their own personal frequency was low, they accidentally or intentionally attracted lower vibration spirits due to their inexperience or fears, or they did not properly protect themselves or set high intentions for their experience.

Often if we are seeking answers that we have an emotional connection to, we may be unsuccessful. Sometimes it is beneficial to seek a neutral, objective person to seek answers for you. That is why sometimes going to see someone else is beneficial. It is even harder to get proper answers for others who you have an emotional connection to.

Seeking guidance and direction from Spirit is not one-size-fits-all. However, all of us have the ability to be guided if we so desire. I hope the tools and suggestions I have offered have been of help to you! I am including the next section for my paid subscribers. If my posts bless you, consider liking, subscribing, and sharing.

To those of you who have upgraded to being a paid subscriber, this is for you!

The following is a chance to receive some guidance from Spirit for you!

I have connected with Spirit and drawn three Tarot cards.

Take a moment. Get still. Take a couple of deep breaths and connect with the energy of Divine Love. If you have a specific question in mind, state your question. If not, just say, “What is it important for me to know today?”

Focus on the following three cards. Then choose one. Don’t scroll down and see the second image until after you have chosen your card!
