May Energy Update
What Themes Will We Be Working Through This Month?
We still have a few days before we completely say goodbye to April, but I am trying to stay consistent and post my chats on Wednesday, so I wanted to go ahead and look into the month of May using my tools of numerology and Tarot, with some inspired words from The Council, my personal team of Spirit Helpers, which include angels and others who show up consistently to work with me.
Every Wednesday, not only do I post an article here, but I also send out a weekly newlsetter and inspirational chit chat via my email list. If you are interested in receiving my weekly chats, which I have affectionately called “Woo Woo Wednesday,” you can sign up on my website.
In numerology, May is a ‘6’ month. We arrive at this number by adding the 5 from the fifth month of the year to the 1 that we have already shared many times is the overall theme for 2026.
Anytime we enter into the energy of the number 6, relationships take center stage. Relationships is a very broad term. We have a relationship with our parents, our children, possibly a romantic partner or interest, friends, other family members, co-workers, casual acquaintances, pets, and even the store clerk or the Amazon delivery person.
Then we have relationships with our unseen Spirit Helpers and Guides, our Angels, our deceased loved ones and animals. We have a relationship with planet Earth, which, at least this time around, is our home. We have a relationship with others who share the same geographical location, our government, our community, our job, and all of the organizations that hold some sort of importance to us.
The number 6 also has to do with karma in many circles. Karma is not just payback. Karma is the consequences for past choices. Sometimes when the number 6 shows up there is some sort of balancing of the scales. There is a review of how our past is affecting our life now and how it will affect our future.
You have your own personal themes based on your own personal numerology. Even though your personal number may be different, you will find that the universal theme also affects you, in the same way, back in 2020, Covid affected us all whether we contracted the virus or not.
You can find your own personal number by adding together the month and day of your birthday to the year it was the last time you had a birthday. So for anyone born today or any date before this day in 2026, you would add 1 to the 5 for May. For anyone who has not yet had a birthday this year, you would add 9 from 2025. If you get a double digit number, then you would add those numbers together until you arrive at a single digit. That number is your theme for about a year, from birthday to birthday.
But let’s talk also about the number 15. Back in January, I shared that if you add 2+0+2+6, you arrive at 10. I included the number 10 in the forecast as well as the 1, because both are significant. So if you add the 10 together with the 5 for May, you arrive at 15.
Both the 1 and the 5 in numerology are all about change. One is more of a slow growing change, and one is more unpredictable and possibly sudden. In May, we continue the theme of changes and new beginnings but those themes will most likely be associated with our relationships, since those numbers together add up to 6.
This relates to our Tarot cards for this month, the Devil and the Lovers.
The similarities in these two cards are remarkable.
Both have two individuals that seem to be in some relationship to one another. And both have a ‘being’ who seems to be overlooking them or guarding them. One feels positive and one feels challenging.
We could look at these two cards as the joys and the struggles that are inherent in all relationships. In some ways, each individual we have a relationship with comes offering gifts. The gift they offer may be love or it may be struggle, and it could very well be both, depending on the day.
The Devil card may seem very focused on our relationships, and how we may feel chained up to someone in some way, but this could relate to our relationship to anything that feels limiting. It could be that we feel like a prisoner to a job, an addiction, a difficult trauma or unresolved emotion, financial debt, a medical diagnosis, or any number of other challenges we face in life. The Devil card encourages you to examine who or what is holding you back from living your best life, and work on recreating your relationship to that challenge.
The Lovers card is not all cotton candy and roses either!
Yes, this card is all about love, but it is also about the decisions we make in regards to our relationships. This card is a bit of a nod to the story of Adam and Eve and the creation story. You can see the snake wrapped around the tree, the apple tree which symbolized the tree of knowledge and the other tree that represented the tree of life. Both Adam and Eve had choices, and those choices affected not only themselves but one another, and ultimately, everyone who came after.
Whether this story has some grain of truth in it, or was a parable meant to teach us something about life is not the point. The main truth that seems to be calling for us to think about today is how our choices affect not only ourselves, but everyone else as well.
This month, relationships may take center stage. You may be faced with looking at your primary relationships and making decisions based on various factors, some of which are completely your own, and some of which involve others.
For me, this month I have two trips planned with two very different sides of the family. Next week I will travel with my daughter and two of my grandchildren to Florida to join my sister and neice as we embark on our yearly vacation. This time we have chosen to take a cruise. When planning this trip, we had to communicate to one another and decide on specific excursions and experiences based on the needs and desires of each of us, and also decide whether we wanted to do things on our own without the others. Although this is a simple example, every day we are faced with juggling our own needs and desires while in various relationships. We have to decide whether to make a decision based on our own needs or whether we are going to take into account other people who are going to be affected.
As a human species, we also are living our lives and making life choices that will affect not only ourselves but others as well. When deciding on life choices, we must remember that every decision we make ultimately affects someone else. Even when we decide whether to recycle or to throw away an item, ultimately that seemingly very small decision affects the entire planet at some level. Although we cannot base every decision on how this is going to affect everyone else, we have to realize that we are completely interconnected with every other life form that calls the Earth their home. When we make reckless choices, other life forms are affected and possibly harmed.
There is no way we can live our lives without causing harm completely, but I do believe in causing the least amount of harm possible. I understand that when I eat meat, an animal had to lose its life to feed me, but it is also true that vegetables and fruit also have life force, and when I consume them I am also taking away their life force. If I decided to cause NO harm, I would starve to death.
I strive to offer myself in service to others while at the same time considering my own needs. There has to be balance. I still have a mortgage to pay, so I balance offering some of my connections to my Spirit Team for free and some I require compensation.
Let’s look at what is commonly called ‘The Minor Archana’ cards of the Tarot related to the number 6.
All of these cards focus on specific aspects of relationship.
The Six of Pentacles focuses on charity, and the giving and receiving of money, assets, or things of importance or value. There is a giver, and there is a receiver. One day you may find yourself in a position to give of yourself to others, and another day you may find yourself in the position to need assistance. You must not totally be one side or the other. If you are always the giver, you may begin to become resentful. If you are always the receiver, then others may begin to resent you. Try to live in balance between giving and receiving. Don’t be a martyr but at the same time, try to refrain from being too needy.
The Six of Wands relates to promotions, accolades, or recognition from others. The danger of fame is the temptation to allow it to alter who you are as a person or begin to think of yourself as superior in some way. We are all the same, just navigating life in different ways. In the same way, watch any tendencies to put someone you trust and look up to on a pedestal. Don’t see yourself as inferior. This month, watch your loyalties. Watch any tendencies to become big-headed.
The Six of Cups typically revolves around children, people from your past, happy memories, or fond relationships. You may run into someone you knew from long ago. You may have a memory of someone from your past. This could also relate to gift-giving and tokens of friendship given and received. You may find yourself around children or people who are younger than you are. The feeling of the card is pleasant.
The Six of Swords relates to taking some sort of journey, often near water. (Yes! I am going on a cruise!) The idea of the card is that of leaving some aspect of life behind and moving on to something else, hopefully better. There is a sense of recovering from a hard period of life. This card is hopeful. We have been navigating some challenges these first few months of 2026. Perhaps this is a card offering us hope for better days ahead.
There are three or four cards of the Tarot which could relate to a passing from this life to another, and the Six of Swords is one of those. There is always a chance of a passing when this card shows up, but it is not the overall theme of this card. I don’t do death predictions, but I do acknowledge it as part of the cycle of life and that being said, there is a chance that someone goes on the next adventure of their soul.
Remember that these themes are all aspects of this adventure we call life! Live each moment as if it was your last. Say things that need to be said. Forgive. Express appreciation to those who are in your life. Spend more time focused on the happy moments than the sad ones.
